Catering Facilities

The food service offers an ‘all day’ provision where students, staff and visitors can enjoy freshly made and cooked dishes throughout the Academy day.

There are four food outlets consisting of:

  • Main Servery – Ground floor Atrium
  • Juice Bar – Ground floor Atrium
  • Café Culture – Ground floor Atrium
  • The Café – 2nd floor

The Main Servery is open to students at Breakfast time (7.45am - 8.20am) offering toast, cereal, egg, beans and tomatoes. Break time is from 10.45am to 11.00am and offers a wide range of breakfast items changing daily. Lunch times are from 1.00pm to 1.35pm, with Year 7 getting priority in the dining hall from 1pm to 1.15pm, where a selection of hot and cold meals are on offer to purchase including such delights as homemade fish and chips and full roasted dinners. Of course the old favourites of chocolate steamed pudding and custard feature as well as a selection of fresh fruit. Once students have finished their lunch they have a variety of clubs they can participate in such as; Quiet Reading Zone, Homework Club, Table Tennis and many other sporting and recreation activities.

The Juice Bar open during break, lunch and after school until 3pm and has a selection of hot and cold drinks, fresh fruit juices, smoothies and a selection of bottled and carton drinks.

Café Culture offers a variety of homemade sandwiches and hot grab and go products (both hot and cold). A high standard of cakes and gateaux, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, pies, tarts and salads are available, all made on the premises.

Fresh fruit, water and bread is available at all outlets. Homemade soup is available in the winter months.

Free School Meals

Meeting any of the following criteria will enable parent / carers to register for free school meals:

  • Universal Credit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support Under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit) and have an annual income (as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs) that does not exceed the current year’s level
  • Working Tax Credit ‘run-on’ payment for four weeks after stopping work, or reducing working hours to under 16 hours a week
