Droylsden Academy Chess Club, which runs every Wednesday lunchtime is taking strides forward following great interest from students across all academic years. Students go head-to-head with each other every lunchtime on a Wednesday in the LRC, but due to such demand Chess Club Leader, Teaching Assistant Mr Cosgrove is looking to relocate to a larger room so more students can participate.
Mr Cosgrove said, "We have a number of budding chess masters in the mix and with the continued interest from students we want to take the club to another level."
On Monday 2 December at 2:35pm in the LRC there will be a meeting for all Chess enthusiasts where Mr Cosgrove will reveal his plans for the future of the club. Along with moving to a new location to accomodate more students, Mr Cosgrove envisages entering the club into a schools tournament in early Spring 2014, and also entering an inter-house competition within the Academy in the New Year.
