In February 2010 a felt workshop was set up as an afterschool activity for students and staff to attend.
Ten students and four members of staff have attended on a regular basis each week and have gone through the basic stages of making traditional wet-felted felt using the soft fleece from the Merino Sheep, hot water and olive soap.
The workshop is very informal, fun and sometimes hard work, as a great deal of rolling and rubbing is required to make the felt and you can also get a little wet.
The students have produced many interesting items of jewellery, 3D objects, purses, a handbag and some have also used some of the flat pieces of handmade felt in their GCSE coursework. Some examples of the finished items can be seen in the display cabinet at the Manor Road Site.
If you feel you would like to have ago, come along to M55 on Thursday afternoon at 2:45pm.
