Students at the Academy have been working hard to raise funds for many different charities, every week since the middle of October money has been raised from cake sales and coffee morning with the majority of the funds raised being donated to the Pakistani Flood Appeal and the MacMillan Nurses which to date amounts to £550.
Student in Year 9 Project 9 and Year 11 Citizenship as part of their GCSE coursework need to plan and run a fund raising event to raise money for a charity of their choice.
Over the next few weeks the students will be supporting many charities, especially Children in Need.
Below is a list of the efforts taking place at the Manor Road Site, please do your best to support them:
Monday 15th November 2010:
Year 11 Fair Trade Chocolate stall, the students will have a selection of Divine Chocolate bars on sale – cancelled due to chocolate supplier letting students down
Tuesday 16th November 2010:
Year 9 Help the Heroes cake and snack stall – Adam Lorne, Bradley Simpson, Jack Ward, Matthew King and Connor Roberts raised £15.00
Wednesday 17th November 2010:
Year 9 Children in Need cake stall – Chloe Sheldon, Monica Patel, Hannah Reece, Melissa Roscoe and Elizabeth Atkins raised £25.15
Thursday 18th November 2010:
Year 9 sale of Pudsey stickers, name the bear and other Pudsey games for Children in Need – Aisha Ahmed, Abbie Royal, Laura Norbury and Chanel Walker raised £21.42
Friday 19th November 2010:
Year 9 Cake Sale for Children in Need – Bradley Jones, Eddie North, Callum Devin and Becky Tunney raised £16.43
Year 9 Cake Sale for Children in Need – Courtney Gorman, Megan Duffield and Kirsty Dolmor raised £8.15
Year 9 Cake Sale for Children in Need – Nicole Fortun, Leigh Prestage, Alice Middleton, Amy Brindley, Naushin Hasan, Meredyth Seymour-Murphy, Kristel Mobbs and Talisha Levy raised £41.43
Year 7 and 8 Students raised £120.30 following the sale of cakes, biscuit decorating, find the Pudsey, where will Pudsey’s balloon land and how many lollies in the jar.
Year 9 Car Washing for Children in Need Bhumi Shukla, Jessica Partington, Reece Johnson, Stephanie Dunkerley and Melissa Moth raised £58.66
Monday 22nd November 2010:
Year 9 Children in Need cake and snack sale – Lee Gates and Jade Joseph raised £13.35
Year 9 Children in Need loose change collection – Kurtis Gibson, Tom Ashton, Sam Butterworth, Gary Hughes and Ryan Fletcher raised £12.55
Staff and student exercise bike challenge raised £45.88
Wednesday 24th November 2010:
Year 11 Pakistani Flood Appeal film night and refreshments arranged by Beth Lowe, Alice Ash, Jade Nguyen, Rebecca Bowcock and Jack Barnes raised £284.73.
Zoe McGrath and Tamzin Nolan Year 9 Students held a McMillan Coffee morning at Twinkle Star Pre-School.
Friday 26th November 2010:
Year 9 Project 9 cake sale for the Alzheimer’s Society – Jack Clare, Tim Abram, Chris Astle and Scott Blackett raised £29.55
Year 9 Help the Heroes Charity cake stall – Andrew Goodband, Alex Patel Jack McKirdy Scott, Anderton and Dijana Coulding raised £23.80
Wednesday 8th December:
Jack Chambers and Ben Lomas raised £16.50 for Help the Heroes by doing odd jobs and a sponsored fast.
Monday 13th December:
Academy Talent competition raised £212.00 for McMillan Nurses.
Wednesday 15th December:
Year 9 RSPCA Charity bake sale selling homemade cakes, shortbreads, flapjacks and more – Emily Pickford, Paige Phillips, Yasamin Salimi, Natasha Saunderson and Tamara Hayes raised £29.75.
Thursday 16th December:
Year 11 Lucy Davies and Rachel Smith raised £83.61 following a raffle for McMillan Nurses.
Year 11 Chloe Bebbington, Kayla Bell and Taylor Spalding raised £42 with donations for the children who are forced to become young soldiers.
