Mrs Fernández- Arias completed her degree in Drama with first class honours from the University of Manchester. She then completed her PGCE through the Teach First Leadership Development Programme and has been a subject mentor for an English Teach First Ambassador. She also works as an external examiner for AQA.
Mrs Egan completed her post graduate in secondary Mathematics education at the Manchester Metropolitan university. She completed her Bsc(hons) in Business Management with accounting at the University of Salford. Mrs Egan has served at Droylsden Academy and the predecessor school for over ten years and is a very experienced practitioner.
Miss Jackson completed her BSc(hons) in Biomedical Science at the Manchester Metropolitan University and worked for Central Manchester University Hospitals Trust for six years in the Department of Haematology and Blood Transfusion. She completed her MSc in Immunology and Immunogenetics at the University of Manchester where her thesis was on polymorphisms and resistance to helminth infection. Miss Jackson then worked as a research scientist for National Blood and Transplant in Manchester and at the Institute of Transfusion Science in Bristol. Miss Jackson gained her PGCE from the Manchester Metropolitan University and has taught Science for the last 9 years, the last year at Droylsden Academy. Miss Jackson is also a member of the Royal Society of Biology and sat on the north-west regional committee for three years.
Mrs Dunnington completed her BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art at Leeds Metropolitan University before completing her PGCE in Secondary Education at Manchester Metropolitan. Mrs Dunnington has served at Droylsden Academy and the predecessor school for over ten years, previously as Head of Art before her recent appointment of Curriculum Leader Technology and Art. Mrs Dunnington is an active member of the National Society for Education in Art and Design.
Mr Eade completed his degree in Physical Education with first class honours from Manchester Metropolitan University. Mr Eade is a Current British and former World Champion in kickboxing and has represented England at 10 World Championships. He has served at Droylsden Academy for 4 years as Curriculum Leader. He has numerous coaching qualifications which include Volleyball, Swimming, Rugby, Kickboxing and Trampolining.
Mr Jackson studied at Manchester Metropolitan University where he graduated with his Bsc.(Hons) degree in Geography and Environmental Studies, and subsequently took his Geography PGCE. He is an Earthwatch Fellow and through the Earthwatch Institute won sponsorship to investigate the Cretaceous – Tertiary extinction event and the demise of the dinosaurs. Through this, Mr Jackson spent some time as a field researcher in Montana, USA. Mr Jackson is also an Alumni of the Ambition School Leadership programme and Droylsden Academy’s Staff Governor.
Miss Collins completed her degree in Modern Foreign Languages and English at the University of Manchester before completing her PGCE in German and Spanish. She then obtained her Masters in Education, also at the University of Manchester whilst working as a Language Teacher. She joined Droylsden Academy as the Associate Curriculum Leader 3 years ago and has since been promoted to the position of Curriculum Leader of MFL. She also works as an external examiner for EDEXCEL.
Miss Platt completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Secondary Music Education at Manchester Metropolitan University. She is an experienced and versatile musician playing piano, clarinet, saxophone and voice. Miss Platt completed her degree in Law (LLB Hons) at the University of Manchester, followed by a Masters Degree in Education through the Open University. She joined Droylsden Academy as Curriculum Leader of Expressive Arts in 2010.
Ms Sherlock completed her degree at Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds obtaining a BPA.(Hons) with distinction. She then completed her PGCE at Liverpool John Moores in Physical Education with Dance. Ms Sherlock has served at Droylsden Academy and it’s predecessor school for 16 years. Ms Sherlock is currently studying for her PGCERT in Special Educational Needs (SENCO Award).
