LRC News: Cryer Street Student Librarians announced!

With over forty applicants applying for a position as a Student Librarian the decision making was hard, however the successful applicants whom will be working with Ms Tennent at the Cryer Street Learning Resource Centre have now been announced.

Ms Tennent said,  "I am absolutely delighted with the response to the Student Librarian vacancies. I understood that the position was popular, however not to the degree that 40 students applied and I have an ongoing reserve list! The main criteria to impress me were the fact that these students 'Go the Extra Mile'. By this I mean they are always keen and eager to help and give up personal time to do this." The new Student Librarians will help out Ms Tennent during their break times and lunchtimes and even during the Academy holidays! In addition the new voluteers will be trained up to complete cataloguing of new books, logging books in and out, house keeping and helping with general enquiries.

Each and every one of the Student Librarians will be responsible for a particular area within the LRC such as Readathon, Spelling Bee, Scholastic Book Club, Readers and Writing Club, Fish, Ant and Worm World, Connexions Careers and Accelerated Reading! Ms Tennent hopes that the new volunteers will enjoy their role and gain an enormous amount of confidence in a working environment before they leave the Academy.
