By law, from 2013 all young people must stay in education or training until the end of the academic year when they reach 17. But there are a wide range of routes and subjects available, and it can be hard to know what to do.
To help young people decide, Tameside Council and its partners would like to invite year 11 pupils and their parents to the My Career, My Future interactive event at Dukinfield Town Hall on 24 October from 4-8pm. Pupils will be invited to ‘have a go’ with interactive activities related to vocational areas.
This event is aimed at helping Year 11 pupils and their parents to decide what route is best after year 11, by bringing together in a single place the local colleges, sixth form schools, training providers and careers advisers who provide opportunities for young people aged 16+.
Parents and young people will be able to meet local organisations and ask them questions – whether it’s about Traineeships, Study Programmes, A Levels, Apprenticeships or routes to a degree - and find out what is on offer locally.
The event is also open to any young person or adult who is looking for ideas about their career. We hope to see you there.
