During the week commencing the 23rd June the Academy hosted National School Sports Week. During the week a whole host of activities took place.
On Monday we welcomed both a lacrosse coach and an Archery master to deliver PE sessions for a range of year groups. Tuesday was “It’s a knock out” day where students and staff enjoyed a turn completing an outdoor inflatable assault course.
The Manchester City in the Community coaches visited on Wednesday testing pupils football skills in shooting power, dribbling speed and standing jump. Sean Leyland-Raine recorded the highest pupil score for shooting power with and impressive score of 65mph.
Thursday was the annual school Sports Day and Friday we had a climbing wall set up outside for pupils to have a go at climbing.
Throughout the week in normal PE lessons pupils also took part in ‘alternative sports’ rather than the sports they are used to competing in, such as Ultimate Frisbee, sack races, egg and spoon races, 3 legged race and the tug of war.
The week was a massive success that students and staff alike really enjoyed.
