As part of National Science and Engineering Week 2013|, Droylsden Academy has ran a host of activities to engage, inform and challenging students minds around the world of science.
The aim of this week is to inspire young people and raise their awareness of the breadth of opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects.
The Science department for the past week have been performing experiments to all the four pastoral Houses in assembly, creating bangs, whooshes and even vacuum packing a member of staff! A science quiz has also taken place each day where students in their tutorial groups had to answer scientific questions, then using the first two letters of their answers to find a missing word.
The missing word turned out to be INVENTION, and three lucky students have received prizes and Ms Croft's tutorial will all receive a class prize!
Also this week during some KS3 lessons we have been making "science in a box" - where we create a science topic in a small box.”
