Pakistan Flood Appeal - Fundraising update

Following the devastation and destruction caused by the flooding in Pakistan at the beginning of August this year, staff and students at Droylsden Academy are working hard to raise funds to help those affected.

The flood appeal total currently stands at £259.21 and this has been raised through snack and cakes stalls held and break and lunchtime during last week. The first stall was organised by Aaisha, Maryam, Adeeba, Zainab, Zunera, Feheema and Madia, they raised £72.46, well done girls in getting the fund raising ball rolling.

Students have made many suggestions on other ways of raising funds. Year 11 students will be holding a film night on Wednesday 3rd November 2010 in the Manor Road Hall from 3.45pm for approximately 250 students. The film "What Happens in Vegas" (12a) will start at 4.00pm. Refreshments and raffle prizes will be on sale. Tickets priced £1.50 will be on sale from lunchtime on the 20th October, please see Beth Lowe, Alice Ash and Josh Frazer, they will be located at reception at break and lunchtime each day. The film night is open to all students aged 12 and over.

It is hoped that a quiz night and games night will also be arranged for mid November, further details to follow. If students have any more ideas or want to discuss the suggestions already made, please see Mrs Fish (Community Manager). Thank you.
