The Academy Bus Service Y55 operates from within the Academy grounds, a designated drop of area has been provided, this is located at the back of the Sports Hall.

In order for students to use the Y55 service they must hold a school bus pass, these can be obtained by applying online to Transport for Greater Manchester.

In addition all young people aged between 11 – 16 wishing to travel by public transport and pay a concessionary fare must also apply for an “igo pass”. Further details can be found on the Transport for Greater Manchester website.

Standard concessionary fares are charged on the Y55 bus service and at most stages students are able to purchase a return ticket. A weekly ticket can also be purchased for the Y55 service.

Over the coming months service Y55: Stalybridge - Ashton - Smallshaw - Droylsden Academy (morning and afternoons journeys), will be converted to a Yellow School Bus operation. However pending delivery of the new low carbon emission 'green' Yellow School Bus vehicles, this service will continue to be operated by conventional bus at present.
