Vacancies on the Local Governing Body

Droylsden Academy is a co-educational 11-16 secondary school in Droylsden, with a roll of 935 students.  It is the founding member school of the Tame River Educational Trust (TRET), which comprises three secondary schools within Tameside and is sponsored by Tameside College.

Droylsden Academy is a highly successful school delivering strong academic results, providing excellent student support and offering a wide range of extra-curricular activities, resulting in the school being heavily oversubscribed for many years.

The Tame River Educational Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust whose mission is to challenge educational and social disadvantage by establishing great schools in which to learn, teach and belong, and which promote learning, develop character, value diversity and build cultural capital.  By the age of 16 we aim for every student to progress to suitably challenging post-16 studies and apprenticeships.

The Local Governing Body supports and holds the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to account for the performance of the school.  It also provides a stakeholder voice through its elected Parent and Staff Governors.  Specific responsibilities of the Local Governing Body are delegated by the Trust Board via a Scheme of Delegation.

The Droylsden Academy Local Governing Body is currently looking to recruit further Governors to strengthen its team.  We are looking for individuals with a broad range of skills and experience, but are particularly interested in those with a background in education or business leadership.
