Droylsden Academy is situated in East Manchester, very close to Manchester City Centre with its vast array of museums, art galleries, shops, places to eat, sporting stadia and the National Cycling Centre. There are many different ways of locating the Academy using the transport links available; please see below for further information:
By Car
The Academy is just a 10 minute drive from the M60 Motorway
Travelling from the South
Using the M6 motorway, leave at junction 19 and join the A556 (direction Manchester Airport). After 5 miles take the third exit off the roundabout onto the M56. Leave M56 at junction 2 (M60 for Stockport) join M60, leave M60 at junction 23. Turn left at traffic lights, keep left and at next lights turn left onto A635 travel past retail park then take the right lanes for the A662 Droylsden. Travel approx. 2 miles on Manchester Road, passing through the town centre, past Tesco heading towards Manchester, turn right onto Sunnybank Road, turn left at junction and the Academy car park entrance is 50 metres on the right.
Travelling from the North
Using the M62 motorway continue until junction 18, take the exit for the M60. Leave the M60 at junction 23 at the traffic lights turn right onto the A635 and follow the instructions as above from the retail park.
By Train
The nearest trains stations are Manchester Piccadilly and Oxford Road Station, from where taxis are readily available to the Academy, taking approximately 10 minutes, longer in peak traffic.
By Bus or Tram
Bus:
From Piccadilly Bus Station in the centre of Manchester, the following buses are available:
- 231 stops on Manor Road outside the Academy
- 216 stops on the A662 Manchester Road which is a 2 minute walk away from the Academy
Metrolink (Tram):
The Manchester Metrolink runs every 10 minutes from Manchester Piccadilly Train Station and Tram Station in Piccadilly Square. Please board the tram which is heading to Ashton-under-Lyne and vacate at either Edge Lane Tram Stop or Cemetery Road Tram Stop both are less than a 5 minutes walk .
