What should I do if I want to speak to someone about my child?

Contact the Academy by phone or email and ask to speak with your child’s Year Manager. If you do not know who this is, just give the name and year group of your child and any message will be forwarded to the correct person.

What should I do if I am worried about another child who attends the Academy?

Contact Reception and ask to speak with a member of the Safeguarding Team. Do not give the name of the child to the member of staff on Reception, or discuss your concerns, in case there are issues around confidentiality.

What extra-curricular clubs and enrichment activities are open to students at the Academy?

How do I raise a concern or make a complaint?

The staff and governors at Droylsden Academy are committed to providing a high quality education for your child in a secure and supportive environment. Whilst all concerned strive to achieve their best for the welfare of the students at the Academy, it is appreciated that there may be occasions when you have concerns about your child’s education or about particular incidents which have occurred at The Academy.

If such a situation arises, we would ask you to follow the procedure outlined in the Complaints’ Policy and Procedure which can be downloaded from the “Complaints Procedure” page of our website.

What are the Academy start and finish times?

School starts each day for all students at 8.30am.

On Monday all students will have a period 7 lesson and the school day will end at 3.35pm. The remainder of the week Years 8, 9 and 10 will finish their lessons at 2.35pm and Year 7 will finish their lessons Wednesday – Friday at 2.35pm.

After 2.35pm on certain days catch-up and extra-curricular clubs will take place.

Who should I call if my child is going to be absent?

Telephone the main school telephone number (0161 301 7600) and ask for Attendance or leave a message with Reception / Student Services who will forward it to a member of the Attendance Team.

What should I do if my child is going to be late?

Telephone the main school telephone number (0161 301 7600) and ask for Attendance or leave a message with Reception / Student Services letting them know what time your child will be arriving and why they are going to be late, this will be forwarded  to the Attendance Team. 

What dates do the GCSE examinations start and finish this year?

GCSE Exam period 15th May 2023 to 26th June 2023

When are Parents’ Evenings this year?

Parents’ Evenings for this academic are as follows from 4.00pm – 7.00pm:

Year 11 – 13th October 2022 and 9th March 2023

Year 10- 18th May 2023

Year 9 – 27th April 2023

Year 8 – 2nd February 2023

Year 7 – Settling In Evening with Form Tutor 17th November 2022 and 29th June 2023
