Catering Facilities

The food service offers an ‘all day’ provision where students, staff and visitors can enjoy freshly made and cooked dishes throughout the Academy day.

There are five food outlets consisting of:

  • Main servery – Ground floor Atrium
  • Grab and Go – Ground floor Atrium
  • Cafe Culture – Ground floor Atrium
  • Inside Out – Outdoor Food Pod
  • The Cafe – Second Floor

The main servery is open to students for breakfast club from 7.30am until 8.05 am offering toast cereals and drinks.  Break time is from 10.45am until 11.00am where we will be selling a range of items including toast, potato cakes, crumpets, fresh fruit pots or yoghurt pots.
Lunch times are from 1.00pm – 1.35pm.  There is ample seating both inside the Atrium and under cover outside for the outdoor food pod.  At lunchtime the main servery has a selection of traditional hot dinners.  The Grab and Go section will serve  healthy take-away style food.  Cafe Culture will serve Hot and Cold sandwiches, Wraps, Pasta pots as well as Fresh Fruits pots and drinks.

The Pod will only be open for Break.

All food is freshly prepared on the premises and we are able to cater for all diets, with prior warning, and are fully aware of allergens, information about these can be obtained from our staff for every item made.

Our menus are on a three-week rotation and are changed seasonally.

Droylsden Academy Catering Team currently hold a Gold Award from Children’s Nutrition Team Tameside, Food4Life. 
We work to provide healthy food and drinks which meet evidence based nutrition and oral health guidelines.  
We are very proud of this Award and work hard to maintain the standard.

Free School Meals

Students are eligible for free school meals if in receipt of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support Under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit, provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income of £16,190 or less
  • Working Tax Credit ‘run-on’ – the payment someone may receive for a further four weeks after they stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit – In England, if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get). If your child is currently eligible for free school meals, they’ll remain eligible until they finish the phase of schooling (primary or secondary) they’re in on 31 March 2022
